Colour Revisit
The problem in the end was that my colours weren't linking back to what my mood board as showing and instead came from David Hockney Artwork "A Bigger Splash". This was limiting to not the full concept and inspiration behind my project and need to be changed.
I took my mood board and selected 8 colour that I thought were the main ones from this collection of images. I needed to selection some accent colours, such as the mustard and teal green, as well as main influential colours such as the dusty pinks, blues, and grey. I simple used the Eyedropper tool to get an accurate representation of the colours.
From this I changed around the tones of certain colours I chose to see if a difference was made, such as the feel of the collection or whether added a darker colour made a difference. The tones for the off-white were slightly too creamy and being next to the mustard colour, the grey seemed to have more brown tones than wanted. The two colour that remains the same was the dusty pink and mustard, as I thought they were good solid colours that contrasted against each other but went well with all other colours. I made the tones of the teal green, sky blue and grey slightly lighter, and the purple slightly darker. For the light pink I made it more saturated to add more depth to the piece, as the first colour was too 'watery'.
Once the tones were done, I needed to get the proportions of how much of the one colour would be used in this collection. As some are obvious accent colours: mustard, purple, and teal green, these colour will appear smaller on this scale. It was trying to sort out how much of the other colour is needed and I think this will be something that will continue to the illustration, as then I can get a full picture of all the colours/collection together.
Once the proportion had been thought about I went straight to getting them involved with my CADs. Firstly, I was seeing whether I wanted the lighter colours on the inside panels or the outside, preferring darker. However, I thought it still wasn't going right and decided to scrap using all these colours and limited myself to three. Secondly, the bottom selection of base layers have a general colour and hints of accent or other colours, with the flat seam being the mustard yellow, and for me this works for what I want. I think the other colour way I was trying to hard to be asymmetric when the simplicity of having it just on the bottom of one leg compared to other makes big impact on the whole piece. I prefer these colours and believe that final I may have nailed the whole colour confusion.
