The Blazer in Brands
I looked at brands that I thought would have a Blazer within their range/collection. Most of these brands are ones that I shop in, so Topshop Boutique, COS and Weekday which are very minimal and medium price range (average £60). I also looked at Blazé Milano, a brand specifically making blazers for women and a much higher price range.
TOPSHOP Boutique
A lilac velvet blazer, fastened by a tie making it asymmetric and interesting. There are no buttons on this blazer but still consists of the lapels, and has a continuous placket on the wrists. They advertised this to be for "party season" so around new year, etc it was properly released. I would personally keep it casual with some frayed, straight leg jeans, white turtle neck top and similar coloured shoes. This is because of having the tie it brings a sense of informality to the piece, which I really like and maybe an idea I take for my own. Made from 82% Viscose and 18% Silk.
WEEKDAY
Called the Piano Blazer, it gives a timeless and effortless style, but has a subtle pattern on the fabric. It has all the classic features of a blazer; high stand collar, big lapels, single-breasted button fastening and two flap pockets. They advertised it as an everyday look, which I can agree with as its a stable piece that would go with alot of things, due to colour choice and the simplicity of it. It is made from 70% polyester and 30% viscose.
COS
COS advertised this under blazer but has called it a 'Coat with Press Folds', as it has volume creating press folds on the body. It does have elements of a blazer, such as flap pockets and single-breasted fastening but as the lapels are very small and closer to the neck I see why they would call it a coat. It has a straight, relaxed fit with soft shoulders to create more of a boxy silhouette. Made from a Wool Blend of 65% Wool, 30% Polyester and 5% Polyamide, with a smooth twill lining.
BLAZÉ Milano
Savannah is an everyday double- breasted blazer for Spring/Summer 18, taking inspiration from the desert. It is a blend of silk (59%) and linen (41%) in a cream/buttery tone, with contrasting white lapels and silk buttons. It also features their trademark 'smiley' pockets which are curved instead of the usual flap pockets and a pocket inside, on the lining.
'COMBINES THE RIGOUR AND ELEGANCE OF THE CLASSIC BLAZER WITH THE ROMANTIC WHIMSICALITY OF THE DESERT'
